Challenging the Throne

The PWL broadcast returns mid-match from commercials and Owen Hart is stomping on a downed Prince Devitt, the crowd showering the Mad King of Harts in tonnes of heat as he picks up his latest victim. Devitt finds some fight in him, and strikes Owen with a number of quick punches to the gut and face before backing up to rebound off of the ropes, but Owen ducks his incoming clothesline, and as Devitt rebounds a second time Owen locks him up in preparation for the Northern Lights Suplex.

COLE
It looks like this thing is over, Taz.

Just as Hart lifts Devitt, the lights in the arena cut out and the only indication that Hart has executed his maneuver is the loud "THUD" of Devitt's body on the canvas amidst the deathly silence of the crowd. That silence hangs in the air for several seconds before, suddenly, the stage explodes in a series of strafing green pyrotechnics that pop from end to end before exploding in a large, blue light. The audience has no time to adjust before a loud countdown booms out of the arena's soundsystem and an image to match appears on the TitanTron:

As the countdown concludes, a solitary voice terminates the silence in the arena:

HERE I COME!

COLE
WHOA! Is this who we think it is, Taz?

The crowd pops as Eric Bischoff trots out onto the stage, nodding and looking over the audience with a glowing smile on his face before gesturing with an open palm to the curtains, where the man to whom the music belongs -- Chris Jericho -- emerges in his ring gear, grinning from ear to ear.

TAZ
You bet, partner! It's Y2J, and it looks like Bischoff has brought him on board to deal with one of the PWL's crazies!

Bischoff looks to Jericho, and then to Owen, and with an exaggerated pointing gesture presumably gives the command to attack the PWL World Heavyweight Champion. Jericho charges the ring and slides under the ropes, but Hart gives him no separation and charges him headlong, tackling Jericho and mounting him to rain punches down on his face. Jericho raises his hands to protect himself from the hits before lifting them to grab the Mad King by his shoulders, and then rolls himself over and on top, returning the punches while Bischoff casually walks down the ramp and reaches into the ring to drag Devitt out of it.

It should be clear to all of our fans here tonight that these two men do not like each other.

TAZ
I'm not entirely convinced Jericho is anything but a hired gun here, Cole. With no explanation of his actions, who knows?

The referee who was on hand for Devitt and Hart's match-up inserts himself into the action and tries to drag Jericho off of Hart. He succeeds for a moment, but Hart charges back in and rains punches over the Ref's shoulder onto Jericho's head. Bischoff shouts at the referee to leave the ring and he does as the Assistant General Manager commands.

COLE
It's bedlam here tonight, Taz.

The two continue brawling, but Jericho gets the upper hand, hitting a series of vicious chops on Hart's chest before running at the ropes. On the rebound, however, Hart repeats what he had done to Devitt and avoids Jericho's clothesline before locking him in for the Northern Lights. At the last possible second, Bischoff shouts something inaudible, but it catches Owen's attention for long enough that Jericho can break free, shove Owen back, and then pull him back in to hit a devastating Codebreaker, driving his knees into the World Heavyweight Champion's face and busting him open!

TAZ
This is nuts! Jericho has arrived in the PWL, and he's making a statement tonight.

Jericho extends his arms and then pounds on his chest as he parades around Owen's downed, bleeding, and discontertingly laughing form. As the crowd pops for Jericho, he climbs a turnbuckle and shouts to the fans before hopping off of it and sliding out of the ring, where he is joined by Bischoff and the two ascend the ramp. As Hart rises, laughing and bloodied from the Codebreaker, Jericho shakes his head and talks trash while gesturing with open palms around his waist. The cameras get just close enough to pick up some of what he is saying.

JERICHO
...coming for yah, Owen. And there's nothing you can do to stop me! YEEEEEEE-AAAAHHHHH!

Bischoff and Jericho then make their exit from the arena as the audience's cheers rain down on the Mad King of Harts, alone and laughing in the center of the ring, blood pouring from the open wound on his forehead.

Phantom adores the idea of the Mad King being knocked down a peg. Good promo and reveal
